second term ORB project

The Hobbit is a fictional fantasy about adventure, friendship and bravery. It is about a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins who was confronted at his home by a wizard and a group of dwarves who wanted him to go a quest with them to retake their home that has been taken over by an evil dragon named Smaug. On their journey the party encounters many mystical creatures such as elves, goblins, dwarves and dragons.

This book was written by J.R.R. Tolkien. I think that he did a very nice job with book. One of my favorite things about it was the detail that he would put into every character and place you would meet during this story. It was almost like you could write a whole new book about the life of any other character in the book. J.R.R. Tolkien was known for writing about adventures on the planet middle earth. (This is where the hobbit took place.) the hobbit was one of the twelve books written about middle earth. Perhaps the most known story would be the sequel to the hobbit. (The Lord of the Ring series.)

I thought that this was a very good book. The first couple of chapters in the book were pretty dull because it was mostly about introducing the characters, but once I got deeper into the story I really started to enjoy it. I think that it is brilliant how J.R.R Tolkien can create his own planet, create a few of his own species and be able to compact all of the information you need to know into one book that is just over 300 pages.

If you were thinking about reading this book I would definitely recommend it. The only thing is that you will need to be patient and wait for the story to get good.

ORB

Hoot
My ORB was Hoot by Carl Hiaasen. It was about a boy named Roy Eberhardt who just moved to Florida from Montana. He had to deal with bullies and try to make friends like any other kid. But one day he saw a kid running around with no shoes on, he also discovered that this boy doesn’t go to school.

Meanwhile a construction site for a pancake house keeps getting sabotaged by an unknown vandal. The construction company tried everything to keep this person. They had a police car stay there over night. They bought guard dogs and they even made the head of the project sleep in a trailer on the site. But somehow this vandal would get onto the site anyway.

As Roy tried to find out more about the shoeless kid he had a confrontation with the boy and his stepsister. And the three of them eventually became best friends. It was then that Roy discovered that it was the shoeless boy who was sabotaging the pancake house. It turns out that there were some burrowing owls on the construction site and they would all be killed when the pancake house was built.

Roy did lots of research on these owls and eventually discovered that they were an endangered species and that you couldn’t destroy there home without a special permit. So Roy went to town hall and found out that all the documents for the building rights were missing. Roy and his friends then asked a bunch of kids from school to go to the site at lunch where they would be having a ceremony for the start of the pancake house being built. They were able to show everyone that the owls really lived there and that it would be illegal to build over their homes. so the man in charge of the building was arrested and the owls were saved

dogs versus cell phones

What is more important to people, items that you can put a price on or moments that you will remember forever? I'm not sure that I can answer that question; in fact I don’t think that there is anyone who can. The reason for this is because that different people each value a different thing. There is nothing wrong with that, people aren’t supposed to all have the same opinion. Hopefully this essay will help me decide what is more important to me.
I was eating my breakfast my family started to notice that I was awake. Immediately I was greeted with a good morning and a happy birthday. Personally I feel that wishing everybody a happy birthday is completely over rated; nobody cares about any of that, all that they need is the presents.
So it is no surprise that the second I finished my meal I asked my parents if I could open my presents. Luckily my birthday happened to fall on a Sunday that year so I was allowed to open my presents in the morning. So I unwrapped the present that I thought resembled the item I was looking for the most; I guessed right. I already knew that I was getting a phone but that didn’t take away from the excitement that I finally could use it.
Once I opened all of my other presents I began calling all of my friends and told them that I finally got my phone. My phone also had unlimited texting so it wasn’t long before I pathetically attempted to send my first text message. Although the message I sent wasn’t very long it still took me a good five minutes before I was able to get it right. After my texting skills improved a bit I began to enjoy texting everywhere I went I kept that phone with me. All the while I was exchanging messages with my friends. Even when I went out to dinner I was texting under the table. That is until my parents caught me and took my phone away from me until we left the restaurant.
My phone is an LGVX8350. It is dark blue. It is not a very good phone but it is my phone. Since I got my phone I have broken it six times. I am not going to blame it all on the phone though; I admit that a few of those breaks were my fault. I can’t really complain, At least I have a phone.

My family has been looking at different Breeds of dogs for a while now. And I think that we finally have found the right one. We went to see a litter of golden retriever puppies and there was nothing like it. They were the cutest dogs that I have ever seen. I also think that we have picked out the right dog. His name is Bailey; he was by far the biggest dog in the litter. He ways over four pounds more than the second heaviest puppy and today we get to take him home with us.
Our day started early since we had to leave our house by eight o clock in order to get to the breeders house. Naturally I didn’t mind since we were going to pick up our new puppy. The breeder lived in Monson so it was around a 40 minute drive to get there. But when we finally arrived we were greeted by an extremely cute golden retriever puppy. So after my parents chatted with the breeder for a bit we were ready to bring our puppy home.
Almost the second we started driving the poor dog started throwing up in the car. The day was off to a rough start but luckily it began to get better fast. Once we got home we brought the dog into the back yard. There we started playing with him for a while. After that we brought Bailey around the neighborhood to meet all of the neighbors. They all loved him; at the houses that already had dogs you could see the dogs getting jealous of how much attention my dog was getting.
Unfortunately I had to go to my friend’s birthday party that day so I went I few hours without seeing my new dog. Luckily the party didn’t last very long and before I knew it I was back with my puppy. It didn’t take long to notice that my dog ate a ton. He finished his dinner in around ten minutes and for the rest of the night he kept checking his dog bowl to see if anybody put some more food into it. Eventually I had to go to bed so I said good night to Bailey.
So for the question as to what is more important to me, I would have to say that it is the priceless moments that are the most important. Don’t get me wrong priced items can be great to. But I would never trade my dog for any item in the world. That doesn’t mean that you have to feel the same way. That is just my decision. It is your job to decide what matters the most to you.

a champion named david

Once there was a boy named David. He was beaten and starved by his mother for years until one day the police took him away. He then moved in with his aunt and cousins who all lived in Harlem New York. His aunt lived with her 3 kids and her nephew Alfred. He used to box, he quit but he stills goes to the gym to train and workout. This gym was called Donatelli’s. David decided that he would go and see the gym for himself.

It was then that David decided that he would like to try this boxing thing out for himself. So every morning Alfred and David got up and ran together. Then they would both go to school. (Alfred dropped out but he started going back again.) After they got home from school they would do there homework and then go the gym until they came home for dinner. After dinner Alfred would go to work at a grocery store for a few hours. When this would happen David would relax and watch some TV.

David really loved his new life. His family was always nice to him, he could eat as much as he wanted, and he was having tons of fun at the gym. Eventually Mr. Donatelli let him start sparring with other boxers. It was then that David discovered that he was great at boxing. He could take much more punishment than the other boxers because he was used to the pain of his mother abusing him for all of those years. David trained harder than any other boxer and before long Donatelli put him into a fight.

Immediately David chose Alfred to be in his corner. Once the fight night came David, Alfred, and Alfred’s friend Henry drove to Alfred’s friend Spoon’s house. While they were David was first told to take a nap and after that he was made a steak. It seemed like ages before they finally had to go to the fight. It turns out that the guy that David was facing was a skinny kid that Alfred had beaten back in his boxing days.

Finally the match had begun, if you were watching the match from the stands all you would have been able to see was David completely destroying the guy. Not even a minute in to the fight David got the knock out. Unlike Alfred who quit fighting just because he didn’t like to hurt other people; David loved fighting, he felt like that he was letting go of year’s worth of anger in every punch he threw. Since then David was dominant in all of his fights. Before any time at all he was 10-0.

After a month or two of unbelievable fighting David was given a title match. He was going to face the current champion. David was so nervous; he had a chance to go from a kid that no one liked or even talked to into a champion. On the night of his tile match he went through his regular routine. He would drive with Alfred and Henry to Spoon’s house, take a nap and then eat dinner, and before he knew it he was on his way to Madison square garden where the most important moment of his life was about to take place.

The match had begun. He was facing a huge and muscular opponent that David had no clue how he was going to beat. At the end of the first round David took a beating. After that the rounds were flying by until they entered the final round neck and neck. David started getting hammered in the beginning of the round until he finally saw an opening. He hit the guy as hard as he could and his opponent dropped like a rock and didn’t get up. David won David was a Champion.
